I don’t know about you but I get mildly irritated whenever I log into NetSuite, and for no obvious reason, the main NetSuite menu bar has lost its color, making navigation harder!

I’m not exactly sure why this happens but I certainly experience it once every few months. Interestingly, in almost all instances, this issue is limited to one environment or role. For instance, for the same account, the menu bar in my Sandbox account could become transparent while the same role in the Production environment is unaffected, or vice versa.
Here are a few options to address this issue (in the order I’ll try them):
- Execute CTRL + F5 (or CMD + R on Mac) to trigger a forced refresh (thanks to Asaf Yadigar and Lee Hopper for pointing this out!).
- Change your color theme as illustrated below (also documented in Answer ID: 72778).
- Do nothing or temporarily switch to another browser or incognito mode; typically, the issue “automagically” resolves itself after a few days, don’t ask me why!
- Clear your browser’s cache/cookies. If all fails, this might be your last resort.

It does not matter which color scheme you choose, as long as you select a different one than the currently active one. Also, if, like me, you’re particular about your color themes, all you need to do is wait a few days and then revert back to your original color theme which by then should be working fine again.
I hope this helps you the next time your NetSuite menu bar becomes transparent.

Thank you for your response!
Hi, an other question, is there a way to turn off the automatic fall out meno of the ribbon? Im going nuts with clicking on it accidentally all the time. Is there a way that the menu only shows by clicking?
Hi, I don’t know anyway to do that and I doubt it’s possible.
This solution is the Best! Thank you
You’re welcome!
Hello, the reason is because your local cached file is corrupt. If you notice, many client side scripts (mostly netsuite native ones like the netsuite dropdown) do not work.
The solution is to re-download the file from netsuite. The most common and easiest way to do this is force refresh the page (ctrl+f5) which tells any website “yes my computer already has this file stored, but I want to download it again”
Hi, thanks for sharing your insights.
OMG! This visibility issue happens to me! I’ve gone NUTS trying to find the right wording to google search a resolution. At random times it’s hard to pin down a resolution or get “support” on it, since it’s hard to reproduce. For me, I also find that checkboxes, radio buttons, & other navigation buttons, also get skewed from view, so sometimes I literally cannot function at all within NetSuite. I agree that just switching to another role within NetSuite or another browser “fixes” my issue; The troublesome browser/role then magically works again later. The last time it happened to me in March, I thankfully took screenshots so NetSuite can’t call me crazy hahaha.
Dear Estee, thanks for sharing. We feel your frustration. Hopefully the tip shared in this article will help you the next time it occurs!
PS: Someone even mentioned that CTRL/CMD + F5 also works though I’ll need to validate that.
Cheers!
It is related to some kind of cache issue (I think to do with NetSuite’s CDN – but this is a guess).
The quickest and simplest solution to fix this is press Ctrl/Cmd + F5 in the browser. This refreshes your browser cache for that website (similar to opening incognito, except the cookies still exist – so you don’t get logged out).
Hope that helps a few people.
Have a happy new year everyone – maybe it be a much better year than the last.
A hard reload, such as hitting CTRL + F5 is all that is needed, but you may have to do it twice. It caused by the CSS file not loading correctly. This is not just a NetSuite issue, I have seen it on other web sites as well.
Thanks for sharing your insights on this issue, Wes.
